Australian Lawyer · Founder, KinPath Surrogacy
LLB (Hons.) — Founder, KinPath Surrogacy · General Manager, KinPath Surr LLC
A lawyer by training, a father by surrogacy, and an advocate by conviction. After experiencing the gaps in the surrogacy process for same-sex couples firsthand, Paul and his partner Joshua made it their mission to create accessible, transparent and ethically sound pathways to parenthood — for LGBTQ+ couples, single parents, and cross-border intended parents in the U.S., U.K., Australia and Europe.
KinPath Surrogacy is an international advisory and consultancy service. Paul holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LLB Hons.) but is not a current Australian legal practitioner and does not provide formal legal advice or representation.
About Paul
Paul Anthony Norris-Ongso is an Australian lawyer with a background in intellectual property, commercial litigation, migration, surrogacy, same-sex partnerships, and international family law.
After personally experiencing the gaps in the surrogacy process for same-sex couples — the process through which his own children were conceived — Paul and his partner Joshua made it their mission to create accessible, transparent, and ethically sound pathways to parenthood.
Together, they founded KinPath Surrogacy, a global surrogacy agency committed to transparent, legally sound and human-centred programs for LGBTQ+ couples, single parents, and cross-border intended parents in the U.S., U.K., Australia and Europe.
A career built on forensic contract work — reading for the clause that fails at the worst moment and designing frameworks that hold when circumstances change.
Deep familiarity with the cross-border machinery of family creation: citizenship pathways, parental recognition and the jurisdictions in between.
Not just studied — lived. Paul navigated the gaps in the surrogacy process for same-sex couples firsthand when building his own family.
Ethical standards & safeguards
Intended parents are advised and required to retain independent, licensed legal practitioners in both Australia and the destination country for formal contract review. KinPath does not substitute for that advice.
Psychological screening, independent legal representation for the surrogate, defined healthcare standards, and ethical, transparent compensation models are enforced within every program KinPath manages.
Funds are structurally managed and released to clinical and agency partners against documented milestones, so financial accountability holds across the full lifecycle of the journey.
Payments are staged against verifiable events — clinic confirmation, embryo transfer, pregnancy milestones and birth — with reconciliation reports provided to intended parents. The goal is to remove the guesswork and risk of lump-sum disbursements.
The structural process
A confidential assessment of your family goals, timelines, budget realities and preferred international pathways.
Customising your journey layout, matching with vetted clinical agencies, and establishing the ethical parameters your program will run on.
Managing active communications with agencies, tracking clinical milestones, and preparing files for your eventual travel and return home.
Advocacy, speaking & media
On structuring international programs that protect surrogates as rigorously as they protect intended parents.
Regular community sessions for LGBTIQ+ and single intended parents navigating Australian regulation.
Interviews and long-form conversations on lived surrogacy experience and honest cost transparency.
Practical frameworks intended parents can use to screen agencies and read a contract before signing.
The workshop covers red flags in agency marketing, escrow structures, surrogate screening documentation, and how to compare programs in different countries. It is intended to make intended parents harder to mislead.
FAMILY & LIFE
Our three came to us across a decade and three separate programs. What I learned as a parent, not a consultant, is the part I keep coming back to.

When Joshua and I started our journey, the system wasn't built for us. In too many places, it still isn't. That has to change.
